Contributing the day’s best anecdote, Missouri Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder recalled his first race for the Missouri Senate 16 years ago. Visiting a parish picnic about 100 miles south of St. Louis, Kinder shook hands with an older gentlemen and asked for his support.

Flood Victims Given More Time To File Taxes

David Catanese reported on Friday that Lt. Governor Kinder had announced that those Missourians who had their lives turned upside down by Mother Nature would have some extra time to file their taxes.

Flood victims will now have until May 19th to file their 2007 returns.

Fighting for the Sales Tax Holiday [UPDATED]

As reported by the Political Fix this morning, Peter hosted a bloggers conference call today to discuss his position on House Bill 2250, legislation to create a state sales tax holiday beginning on June 27 and ending at midnight on June 29.

Last week, Peter issued a press release on the bill (download via PDF) where he said:

Big Endorsement: St. Charles County Executive Steve Ehlmann

Today, Peter Kinder picked up the endorsement of St. Charles County Executive Steve Ehlmann. Ehlmann previously served as Circuit Court Judge and Minority Leader in the Missouri Senate

In his endorsement, Ehlmann said, "I am proud to endorse Peter Kinder for Governor. Throughout his entire career, Peter has demonstrated a strong record of proven effective leadership and I am confident that he will deliver the positive change Missourians deserve."

Human Events: "Kinder is ahead in a big way"

The great John Gizzi, political editor for the national conservative publican, Human Events, concludes in his article today that Peter Kinder, "in terms of name recognition, organization, and early movement... is ahead in a big way."
